Yankee Doodle

Hi there.  Back to posting music.  This time I am posting me playing Yankee Doodle.  This is a great one to do with the kids, almost any age.  I have used this in 5th grade classrooms to talk about the British soldiers view of the  Continental soldiers.  Fun music, good for rhythm.  You can also try making up your own words, although this one is not as simple as some other songs.  More of those later.

The lyrics are:

Yankee Doodle went to town, riding on a pony

Stuck a feather in his hat and called it “macaroni”

Yankee Doodle keep it up, Yankee Doodle dandy

Mind the music and the step, and with the girls be handy

Father and I went down to camp, along with Captain Goodin,

There we saw the men and boys as thick as hasty puddin’

Yankee Doodle keep it up, Yankee Doodle dandy

Mind the music and the step, and with the girls be handy
